MeTEor: A New R Shiny App for Longitudinal Metabolomics Analysis
The Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics has developed MeTEor (MEtabolite Trajectory ExplORer), an R Shiny app designed to simplify the analysis of longitudinal metabolomics data. MeTEor addresses challenges such as data complexity and temporal variability, providing researchers with accessible tools for exploring time-series omics datasets without requiring advanced programming expertise.
To demonstrate its potential, MeTEor was applied to a COVID-19 metabolomics dataset, successfully identifying significant metabolites and providing insights into disease outcome predictions. These results showcase the app’s utility for addressing complex research questions in real-world scenarios. MeTEor is available as an open-source R package and Docker image. Installation instructions and source code are accessible on GitHub. Future updates will focus on expanding functionality and improving integration into existing workflows.
